Industries We Get Moving
Wheelco works alongside New Zealand to get the right wheel, sliding door or handling equipment for the job.Choosing the right wheel
There’s a number of factors to consider when ordering a new wheel:
Key measurements for ordering
- Measure the diameter of the wheel. Measure from the outside edge to outside edge. If it’s a pneumatic tyre take note of the markings on the side of the tyre, eg 480x400x8.
- Measure the axle bore / hole size in the centre of the wheel. Another way is to measure the axle diameter size with callipers.
- Measure the hub length (the distance from one side of the wheel hub to the other). An easy way to do this is to insert a pencil or shaft through the centre, then measure that.
- Another way is to measure the axle length where the wheel sits.
What are you trying to move? You should allow plenty of rated load capacity in your wheel to enable sufficient support, including when loads are being moved on and off of the equipment.
Being able to manoeuvre, push and pull your load easily requires wheels that allow it. You’ll want to consider surface resistance, inclines and the distance the wheel will have to go in typical use.
Our extensive range offers wheels that are hard-wearing, up to the task of rolling in wet, corrosive or rough terrain conditions. Our wheels are found in factories, construction sites and boat yards. Make sure you consider where your wheel will be used.
Bespoke Solutions
Sometimes you’ll need a customised solution that’s not immediately available - that’s where Wheelco can help. Not only do we offer thousands of wheel and handling products ready to go, but we can build a wheel to meet your needs. This could be a specific combination of hub and tyre, or something more complex, like a uniquely designed trolley that we can build in our warehouse and ship to you.
The team behind your wheels
We deliver the personalised customer service of a family owned and operated business, yet have the knowledge and range to support the largest organisations in the country. It’s this combination that makes Wheelco the choice of so many across the country. Started in 1994 by John Sankey, Wheelco is now led by son Joel and powered by a team of wheel experts. It's our belief that you don’t just deserve high quality products, but the guidance to ensure you’ve got the right wheel or equipment for the job.
